On Monday 14th February, MIV (Year 8) enjoyed an afternoon visiting the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize exhibition.
The Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize has an established reputation as the UK’s most important annual open exhibition of drawing. Led by its founding Director, Professor Anita Taylor, the exhibition is known for its promotion and celebration of excellence in contemporary drawing practice.
'Visiting The Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize exhibition was certainly a day to remember. We were given a tour by Professor Anita Taylor, Artist and Dean of Jordanstone College, Dundee, in addition to workshops with the Art team. The pieces of art we saw had been selected from lots of competition entries and had come from all over the world, with each being unique and different and all of them as important as the other. The variety was amazing, with some extremely extravagant and detailed, and others as simple as a sketch. My favourites were by Fiona Michie and Rebecca West-Beale, shown below.'
Grace, MIV
Fiona Michie, Can you make my thoughts disappear, 2020

Rebecca West-Beale, Monologue, 2021

The exhibition of 114 drawings by 99 drawing practitioners wowed our MIV and it was wonderful to speak with Professor Taylor and celebrate students’ responses to the exhibition. It is certainly worth a visit and is on display until 5th March at 10 Stallard Street, Trowbridge, BA14 9AE.
