On Thursday 10th November, Jo Kitching from Doorway, the Chippenham based charity which supports those who are homeless and moving on from homelessness, returned four our 'Wear a Hat' Mufti Day and to give us an update on their work. Now fully settled into their new premises at the Citadel in Chippenham, they can run more sessions than was possible previously but understandably fundraising is as important as ever with increased costs.

We heard about the collaborative projects that have been running over the past year including a very special project that brought together musicians with their guests and together they wrote a song about the charity which Jo played for us following a moment of reflection.

Bonnie (UVI) encouraged everyone to ‘Wear a Hat’ for the Mufti Day in recognition not only of the shelter a hat can provide but also the fact that a hat helps the wearer retain a significant amount of heat. We were delighted with the range and creativity of the hats which were worn for the occasion, ranging from glamorous ones, to ones with built in wigs as well as the home made ones and snuggly bobble hats. £353 from the Mufti Day will, we know, be put to very good use.

Our Young Enterprise group will be selling their Christmas Cards and Planners at the Doorway Christmas Market on Saturday 3rd December between 11am and 3pm at the Citadel, Bath Road, Chippenham. They would be delighted to see anyone they missed at the school’s Christmas Fair. We are impressed that the students have used their own initiative to develop further our partnership with Doorway.
