Last Monday evening, St Mary’s hosted an Overseas Universities Information Evening for current parents and students as well as some students from our local partner state schools. We had eight representatives from The University Guys who were able to share information about overseas study to our Fifth and Sixth Form pupils. The exhibition was set up in our Library and the students were able to ask the exhibitors lots of questions and chat about overseas study options, particularly studying in the US, Canada, Spain, Netherlands, Australia and New Zealand.

After supper, we held an online presentation with more detailed overview of the wonderfully diverse opportunities on offer in higher education in the US, Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, all of which regularly see applications from St Mary’s pupils often alongside their UK applications. We support all students in understanding the overseas opportunities available to them and use expert help to navigate the processes and systems involved for successful outcomes, and tailored this experience to the individual student's interests and strengths.

We were delighted to be joined by Carolyn Tate of Vela Education, who discussed opportunities in the US and the application process (and with whom St Mary’s works with to support our US university applicants); Chloe, last year’s Deputy Head Girl who is currently enrolled at NYU in the US; David Hawkins of The University Guys; and Stefan Watts of Study Options.

A recording of the whole evening is available on request from Ms Holloway for those unable to attend the live event.
