Earlier this month, our Artist in Residence, Chloe Barnes, showcased her monotype, Bike Ride, at the highly esteemed Royal Society of British Artists' Annual Exhibition in London. With over 4,000 submissions, only 200 pieces were selected for display, and Chloe's work was one of them. Her artwork was displayed alongside the society's members' works, showcasing an array of paintings, drawings, prints, and sculptures, including a beautiful ink drawing by St Mary's alumnae, Lauren Tang (2022 Leaver).
During the exhibition's opening ceremony, Chloe was thrilled to discover that her piece had also won the Hahnemühle Fine Art Award, winning a whopping £250 worth of artist paper!
Back at school, Chloe also embarked on a Legacy Print Project, designing a series of 12 linocuts depicting the beautiful Lime Kiln Gardens and school grounds.
To commemorate the school's 150th anniversary, Chloe led a linocut workshop during Donaldson Week, where she guided the UIV girls to carve and print the designs, resulting in a beautiful display that's now showcased in the Long Passage corridor leading to the Dining Room.
