When we saw that the date set for the Moberly Company Supper was Friday 17th March, it became obvious what our theme would be... St Patrick's Day! With the Dining Room awash of green, white and orange, a traditional Irish menu, and the chance to learn an authentic traditional Irish jig - Moberly certainly brough the craic to Calne!
When is came to the costumes, as always, the imagination of the students went wild; we had pots of gold, leprechauns and... potatoes! Awards for 'Best Costumes' went to Olivia and Claudia for a pot of gold and a rainbow, Annabel as a nun, and, as tradition goes, Mr Rose with his inflatable little leprechaun.
The menu for the night was traditionally Irish with Irish stew, potato and cabbage followed by apple crumble and cream - scrummy!
After supper, we had the fabulous opportunity to learn a traditional Irish Jig with an international Irish dancer, Megan Davies, who visited to teach us a whole routine set to traditional Irish music. What a sight it was to see potatoes and pots of gold dancing an Irish jig - one we won't forget for awhile! Afterwards, the UVI enjoyed a Guinness tasting in Helen Wright House.
It was a fabulous evening of Irish-inspired fun for the whole company.
