The Independent Schools' Tennis Association was once again held at Eton College from the 2nd – 4th July 2023. St Mary’s entered pairs for all three girls’ competitions including the U19, U15 and U13 trophies.
The U19’s, Sofia and Tabi, and two U15 pairs, May and Allison, Quitterie and Eve, took to the artificial clay and acrylic hard courts. After a hard day battling it out in the group stages, it was amazing to watch our two pupils from LV achieve a main draw qualification in the U19’s whilst being three years younger than most of their competitors. Over in the U15’s, our first pair were given a mighty challenge to be grouped with the eventual overall winners, runners-up and Plate winners.
Having qualified 4th in the group, I was so proud to see them reach St Mary’s first ever final at the ISTA Championships in the U15 Plate, well done May and Allison! Congratulations to Quitterie and Tabi who qualified in second place to reach the main draw of the U15, this was an incredible achievement. The U13’s represented by Blanca and Lily, Lucy and Pandora improved throughout the tournament. Blanca and Lily progressed to the main draw groupings and managed to pick up a win from the group. Lucy and Pandora deserved their three wins from the Plate group stages, improving their doubles partnership in fine style.
