On Thursday 23rd November, a number of students took part in the Area Cross Country Championships at Kingsbury Green Academy. The course was unexpectedly very dry after a long stint of bad weather, and it was also very flat, making it a lovely course to run in the beautiful autumn weather.

Minor Girls (LIV)
St Mary's Minor Girls' Team put in some good performances over the 2.2km course. They all made a good start and most managed to sustain their positions and finish strongly. Minna (LIV) ran well finishing 12th and was the first LIV runner across the line for SMC, with the rest of the LIV finishing in the middle of the pack.

Junior Girls (MIV&UIV)
The Junior Girls' Team of eight runners performed well, maintaining a good pace over the flat, fast 3km course. This was also a very competitive race with approximately 50 runners. Florrie (UIV) finished 5th, Eve B (UIV) came in 14th, Kitty F (MIV) was 16th, with Cova (MIV) following in 17th, Flora M (UIV) in 20th, Martha R (UIV) coming 21st, Isabella S (MIV) in 25th and Eugenie (LIV) 32nd. Overall the Juniors finished 3rd as a team.

Inter Girls (LV&UV)
The Inter Girls was the last race, running alongside the Seniors, in what was an exciting but relaxed race for some of our runners. Emily I (LV) finished 4th, with Matilda R (UV) in 7th, Baylee (UV) followed in 8th, Lotte (LV) came 11th, Florence P (LV) in 13th, followed closely by Eve J (LV) in 14th, and Issy P (LV) in 15th, with Carlotta (LV) placing 21st. Overall the Inters came 1st as a team, which is a great achievement!

We now wait to hear the final team results to see who will now go forward to represent North Wiltshire at the County Championships in January.

Well done to all those who ran!
