There was much anticipation as everyone prepared themselves for one of the favourite events of the year - the Company Shout! - the finale to the Cecilia James Music Festival.

The evening began with performances by the winners of each of the solo classes as they competed for the top accolade of the music festival - the Cecilia James Prize. Every girl raised her game, and the performances were even better second time round. Katie (UVI) maintained her poise, despite being dressed as Tigger, and won the prize and claimed the cup. Congratulations Katie, who was representing Osmund, on your well-deserved achievement.

Then, of course, it was time for the much-loved Company Shout, and with this year's theme of 80’s rock, the performances were set to be even louder than ever!

Accompanied by our fabulous live band, each Company was a mass of colour, exuberance and energy! Songs this year were I love Rock n’ Roll from Ed Rich, Livin’ on a Prayer from Osmund, Eye of the Tiger from Poore, It’s Raining Men from Moberly and Don’t Stop Believin’ from Grosstête.

This year was a very close call indeed, but in the end, it was Grosstête that were named the winners of the 2023 Company Shout with their electrifying performance of Don't Stop Believin' by Journey and were presented with the Company Shout Cup.

It was then time for the presentation for the Cecilia James Festival Winners' Cup... which was awarded to Osmund!

Thanks go to Dr Kewley, who had the important job throughout the day of totalling up the points, Miss Palfreyman for her marvellous accompanying, Mrs Black for making sure everything was in the right place and Mr Slater for providing the sound.

A huge well done to the solo performers, UVI Heads of Company - Amy, Elowen, Ophelia, Holly and Annabel - alongside their deputies and ensemble leaders for their hard work this year.

Overall, it was a fantastic day of music that brought together the whole school community in such a fun, positive way. Everyone left the Chapel with huge smiles, with many still singing their Company Shout song!
