Jemima and Teyla TNCongratulations to Teyla (LIV) and Jemima (MIV), both St Mary’s Music Scholars, on their prize-winning performances at the recent Royal Wootton Bassett Arts Festival and the Devizes Eisteddfod, respectively.

We share our congratulations to Teyla for her outstanding achievement at the Royal Wootton Bassett Arts Festival over the weekend. The festival is a competitive annual arts festival that covers music, speech, drama, musical theatre, classical guitar, and dance for both children and adults.

Teyla had a fantastic weekend and was awarded for her performances on cello in three different categories: Senior Strings Solo, Senior Strings Recital and String Duet.

Mrs Bethan Dudley-Fryar, Teyla’s tutor and Director of Vocal Studies, said of Teyla’s awards, ‘What an achievement and celebration of a wonderful young musician. We are very pleased to have Teyla with us as a Music Scholar and look forward to many more successful performances.’

Congratulations also go to Jemima who was awarded three cups for her vocal performances at the Devizes Eisteddfod! After being awarded the ‘Vocal Repertoire Cup’ last week, she was invited to perform ‘An Evening Hymn’ at the 2023 Devizes Eisteddfod Festival Concert on Saturday evening.

Following her solo performance, Jemima was presented with two further special festival awards!  The Rose Scudamore Cup for overall ‘Best Performance in the Vocal Classes’ and The Devizes & Twining Association Cup for ‘Vocal Award for French or German Song’.

Mrs Bethan Dudley Fryar, said, ‘It has been a pleasure to help Jemima prepare for her performances at the Devizes Eisteddfod; she has worked so hard! I am thrilled that her work and talent has been recognised in such a wonderful way! Congratulations Jemima!’
