Over four days in July, the Royal Academy of Music hosted the New Talent Festival 2023, which brings together young musicians from across the world to participate in one-to-one masterclasses, interactive workshops, concerts and competitions. This year, the Festival welcomed 90 participants from the UK, China, Romania, Australia, Thailand, Mongolia, Indonesia, France and Switzerland - including St Mary's own Jemima (MIV) who reports here on the experience:
'The New Talent Festival straddled several days with various music categories and sessions. The First Round Performances were held on 15th July and I performed my repertoire in the Voice category. It was exciting to perform in such a special venue.
On 18th July I returned to London for the Award Ceremony - when I received ‘1st Prize in Voice category’ for my age group - which I was thrilled to achieve!
Finally, I enjoyed watching the Final - which included nine musicians from around the world - many of whom were senior full time music students and very talented in their various instruments!'
Congratulations to Jemima on being awarded 1st Prize in her Age Category for Voice! This is a wonderful achievement!
