'Sisters n Sport' is about empowering women through sport. It gives school netball teams the opportunity to play schools they would never normally play, while giving girls more competition opportunities, a chance to make new friends, and create sporting memories with their teammates.
Sisters n Sport was created in 2018 after the founders saw how much girls loved to play matches – but also how much they gained from doing so. Competition is so important for girls and Sisters n Sport wanted to provide more opportunities for girls to compete and to be able to compete in big competitions.
We have entered U19, U16, U15 and U14s into this netball competition and were thrilled to host the first round matches for the U14, U15 and U16s here in Calne. Our U19s came across a masterclass against Millfield. We lost, but lots of lessons learned playing against girls that are sure to go on to play for England. What an experience!
The U16s had a very competitive game against Monmouth, which SMC went onto win - great work girls! The U15s played King Edwards VI from Southampton, which was another competitive match and, again, a fantastic learning experience for the team, especially this early in the season.
The U14s drew Redmaids in the first Cup round. The U14s are a very new team as they have only been playing together for a couple of sessions. While there is lots to work on, so much was gained from this valuable early season matchplay experience.
Next, we wait and see who we are matched against in the second round. U19, U15 and U14 will all go into the Plate round and the U16s go into the Cup round.
A great day of netball was had by all!
