With fixtures taking place on the first weekend back at school, the PE Department ran a successful Pre-season Training Programme for students in hockey and lacrosse.
Congratulations to our wonderfully talented pupils who have done extremely well in the Connell Guide Writing Competition winning a range of prizes for their creative work! The competition challenged pupils to mix fiction and non-fiction when describing an historical event, written in the form of a news report. The historical event could be from 100 years ago, or last week – but had to include ‘a compelling narrative and a degree of factual and historical insight’.
On Tuesday evening, our first night back in school, we had a fabulous Gala Supper for all of the Sixth Form that Mrs Thomas and her wonderful team prepared for us. After this, we had the pleasure of hearing a powerful and inspirational lecture from Shaun Pascoe, a former RAF Squadron Leader, about his insight into leadership.
After two weeks of rehearsals, seven of us became 'a murder of crows' at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, for four days of performances of Twisted Tales: Once Upon a Crime. As soon as we arrived in the city, we were instantly hit by the sheer number of people there to watch the countless performances across Edinburgh. The atmosphere was unlike anything we’d ever experienced: loud, crowded, buzzing with excitement and joy.
Congratulations to the 59 pupils who took a LAMDA examination over the last school year. The results were simply outstanding, with 57 of pupils achieving Distinction, and of those, 10 achieving above 90%.
Congratulations to Pippa (UVI) who has been selected to represent Great Britain in the Junior European Eventing Championships as a team member in Montelebretti, Italy on her lovely pony, Bayano. This follows her recent success at the Belsay International Horse Trials where she was named the British National Junior Champion!
