We are delighted to announce that the St Mary’s Calne Health Centre has achieved the 'Seacole Standard for Excellence in Health and Medical Provision'. The standard, launched in September 2023, is managed by HIEDA, the Health in Education Association, which is part of the BSA (Boarding Schools Association). The Seacole Standard was named after a pioneering 19th century nurse, Mary Seacole and St Mary's is amongst the first group of schools to be recognised.
The Seacole Standard is a rigorous approach which evaluates five standards of care and treatment, referencing the Care Quality Commission’s (CQC) key questions which are applicable to boarding standards in England and Wales.
Lead Nurse, Charlotte Noon, said of the achievement, ‘We are very proud to have achieved the Seacole Standard, which recognises the provision of excellent level of health and medical care within a boarding school. I would like to thank the Health Centre team for their dedication and hard work to achieve this, as well as pastoral and senior leadership teams for their support.’
