Two girls from LVI (Year 12) - Cheryl and Evie - attended the annual Merton College Choral Scholarship Workshop Day in Oxford. This was a fantastic experience that allowed the girls to have a look around Merton College, meet current Choral Scholars and members of the Merton College Choir, and get to know some of the music staff.
Here, Cheryl and Evie report on their experience:
'It was a wonderful experience. The students and tutors there provided great insight into life at Merton College and the overall university application process including applying for a Choral Scholarship. The Evensong Service with the Merton College choir was also incredible and enjoyable for us. Additionally, we made new friends who also love singing. I thoroughly enjoyed the day, and I would recommend anyone who likes singing to attend this workshop.' Cheryl, LVI
'Visiting Merton College was an incredible experience we got to participate in so many activities: a choral workshop; a question panel with tutors; a recital from the current Merton College Choir; a personal statement and application talk; and finally ending with Evensong that we got to rehearse for and participate in. It was great to meet and sing with so many new people from other schools. However, my favourite part of the day was speaking to current students from a range of colleges over doughnuts. Overall, it was extremely helpful and fun, I loved it!' Evie, LVI
