On Tuesday, ten talented vocalists gathered to participate in the Sir Bryn Terfel and Sir Tim Rice Vocal Prize Night, externally judged by the wonderful Vocal Adjudicator, Sarah Jefferies. We performed in front of a select audience consisting of students, parents and teachers.
We were able to share, through our performances, our efforts and love of singing, showcasing our best songs to the audience. Although everyone’s performances were amazing, the winner of the Sir Bryn Terfel Prize was awarded to Katie (UVI), followed closely by Izzy (UVI who was awarded runner-up.
Likewise, Elowen (UVI) won the Sir Tim Rice Prize, and runner-up went to Eléa (UVI), who merited a special mention from the judge as she said she’d 'never heard a girl sing this song before!’ (The song in question was You’ll Be Back from the famous musical Hamilton).
Overall, it was lovely evening thoroughly enjoyed by everyone, both watching and participating, and would not have been possible without the efforts of the wonderful Miss Arthur, Mrs Dudley Fryar and Mrs Allard.
Thank you to Elyse, Coco, Hermione, Katie, Elowen, Izzy, Ella, Cheryl, Tilly and Elea for exceptional performances ranging from Vivaldi to Andrew Lippa. It was an evening to treasure.
Tilly, UVI
