MATvsCarfidd TNThe mixed-aged lacrosse team (MAT) had their third game of the season on Sunday against Cardiff Harlequins Lacrosse Club. The MAT team are taking part in the South West Women's Invitational Cup competition which sees them take on local club teams in the South West region. This is a great opportunity for students to play against a range of different players and gives them an experience of club lacrosse.

The opposition arrived without a full team, so we were able to lend them some players which added to the competitiveness of the game. SMC started off the first quarter with a flurry of goals, but this slowed down in the second quarter as the other team started getting into the game. With both Molly and Belle playing in goal, there were a number of saves and players had to work hard to score goals. Cardiff were able to create further opportunities before the final whistle bringing the score to a respectable 12 – 8 to SMC.

This game allowed players to try new things as well as play with different players with students from LV, UV, LVI and UVI. The team now wait to see where they finish in the league and if they have the opportunity to play in the national finals.
