On Sunday 11th February, a group of 19 girls embarked on an exciting ski trip to Bormio, Italy. We were lucky to have fabulous weather with sun and blue skies every day. Each morning and afternoon, we were treated to five hours of tuition out on the slopes with our talented ‘Maestri di Sci’ who really spent time getting to know the girls and helping them improve.
The beginners were only on the little slopes for two days, fighting with the carpet and button lifts before they were off on to blue and red runs, working on turning their pizza turns into parallel turns. There was one stretch back to the hotel where we would practice 'race position', hitting high mph’s each afternoon!
The expert skiers were out with Miss Arthur, whizzing around the dizzy heights of Bormio 2000 and 3000. They even managed to do the run that will be used in the Winter Olympics in 2026 as well as checking out 'The Jungle' snow park, practising some larger jumps.
Evenings were filled with going down the mountain into Bormio for ice cream, shopping, highly fought card games, karaoke, pool, air hockey and table football.
On the final night, our girls were treated to a film with highlights from the week (expertly edited by Miss Turley) before presentations, awards, and medals.
