It has been a month of splash, dash, rescue, survival, and overall fun in and out of the pool for our brilliant swimmers. Here is a round-up of what they have achieved.
Regional Qualifying Times
Club swimmers have been competing to gain qualification times to compete in the South West Regional Summer Championships competition, which start at the end of April.
Ava (MIV) has been chasing times and is oh so close to qualifying!
Flo P (LV) has achieved times in three events.
Flo B (UIV) has made the qualifying times in many events. She is also tantalisingly close to going one step further, to every competitive swimmer’s dream - Nationals! After an incredible swim in the100m Freestyle, which saw her achieve sub 60 for the first time, she has shot up the British rankings.
GB Schools Biathlon Final
Isabella (MIV) competed at the University of Bath on the weekend of 23rd/24th March. She achieved fantastic personal best times in the 100m swim and the 1500m run, finishing a very respectable 29th nationally in her age category.
Inter Company Fourth Form Biathlon proved to be a very competitive event. Strongest swimmers weren’t necessarily the strongest runners so adding up overall points was interesting. Eventual top three for their respective year groups with excellent all-round performances were:
LIV
1st - Emilia, 2nd - Minna, 3rd - Eugenie.
MIV
1st - Isabella, 2nd - Jemima, 3rd - Kitty.
UIV
1st - Flo B, 2nd - Mathilda, 3rd - Taggie.
Overall Results
1st Osmund
2nd Ed Rich
3rd Grosstete
4th Moberly
5th Poore
Inter Company Swimming followed a week or two later, it was incredibly loud, and it was as equally entertaining to watch as it was to participate. There were t-shirts, socks, ping pong balls, spoons, and balloons in some of the races. Our Sixth Formers were particularly exuberant in their participation!
Overall Results
1st Moberly, 150pts
2nd Poore, 146pts
3rd Ed Rich, 129pts
4th Grosstete, 124pts
5th Osmund, 115pts
Then, to finish of the term, the LIV have been enjoying a little bit of swimming with a difference! Straddle entries, swimming in clothes, blowing up pyjama trousers, and different types of rescues using floats, ropes, and using anything useful, was an enjoyable way to spend a few hours in the pool during CAA on a Friday afternoon.
Our swimmers really have been 'winning their own race' with an incredible amount of personal best times throughout the year groups.
Well done one and all!
