On Sunday morning, the LIV Choir had the opportunity to perform at the well-attended community service at St Mary’s Calne Parish Church. The service also featured thoughtful readings from St Mary’s senior students.
The LIV Choir, which has been rehearsing together since last September, showcased their growth as a group of singers with a beautiful rendition of 'Shoshone Love Song', arranged by Roger Emerson. Under the direction of Mr Sandon-Williams, the pupils demonstrated their developing vocal technique and an impressive level of cohesiveness, which is a testament to both their pupils’ hard work and the supportive environment fostered by the Music department.
Mr Sandon-Williams shared, ‘I am incredibly proud of what the LIV Choir has achieved. Not only have the pupils matured as singers, but they’ve also developed a real sense of unity as a group, something that is essential to any choir.’

The LIV Choir is a key aspect to the school’s Lower School programme and offers the opportunity for the entire year group to sing and perform together at special events throughout the year. Not only do the singers improve their musicality through their involvement in the choir, but the experience also helps pupils to develop confidence and important skills such as teamwork and collaboration.
'The LIV Choir is special as singing together brings so many benefits, such as improved mental and emotional health, better focus, and enhanced memory. One of the most amazing things is that over time, regular singers can even sync their heartbeats while performing together – what a wonderful thought.’ Miss Arthur, Director of Music.
