On Tuesday 21 January, we were pleased to host a studying Overseas Information Evening for interested students and parents who wanted to find out more about the process and costs of studying overseas. 

James Mills from The University Guys discussed various opportunities for studying in Europe, highlighting the diverse educational systems, cultural experiences, and the benefits of gaining international qualifications. He emphasised the importance of language skills and the need for students to research universities that align with their academic and career goals. 

Stefan Watts from Study Options focused on the advantages of studying in Australia and New Zealand. He covered topics such as the high-quality education system, the vibrant student life, and post-study work opportunities. He also provided insights into visa requirements and the application process for prospective international students. 

Dr Carolyn Tate from Vela Education provided an overview of studying in the USA and Canada. She discussed the diverse range of programmes available, the importance of extracurricular activities in applications, and the potential for scholarships. Dr Tate also touched on the cultural adjustments students might face and the support systems in place at American and Canadian institutions, as well as her comprehensive support programmes for St Mary’s pupils in her close work with us. 

Overall, the evening offered valuable information for students considering studying abroad, covering various regions and emphasizing the benefits of an international education experience.
