MIV recently returned from an unforgettable residential trip to Grosvenor Hall in Kent, where they enjoyed a full week of sunshine, excitement, and discovery. The warm weather provided the perfect backdrop for a packed schedule of activities designed to challenge students, build confidence, and strengthen friendships.
From the moment they arrived, the group threw themselves into the adventure. They took part in fencing, explored their creativity during the scrapheap challenge, and learned essential outdoor survival skills through bushcraft. Engineering skills were put to the test during buggy building and large Meccano construction, while a lively mini Olympics encouraged everyone to get moving and work as a team.
The assault course gave students a chance to push their physical limits, while quieter activities like mafia allowed time to relax and recharge. One of the week’s highlights was a cinema trip to see ‘How to Train Your Dragon’, a fun, well-earned break from the action.
A blindfolded walk tested communication and trust, while Jacob’s Ladder encouraged students to climb high—literally and figuratively. The 3G swing and Leap of Faith offered thrilling experiences that many will never forget. Archery and volleyball brought out everyone's competitive spirit, while the campfire on the final night provided the perfect setting to unwind, share stories, and toast marshmallows.
The climbing wall presented a new set of challenges, and the problem-solving sessions tested students’ logic, patience, and teamwork. Every activity brought fresh opportunities for personal growth and group collaboration.
Throughout the week, MIV students demonstrated resilience, enthusiasm, and outstanding support for one another. They embraced every challenge, encouraged their peers, and returned with not only new skills but also lifelong memories.
'I feel like I got braver during the trip, and now I know I can try things I used to be scared of.'
'The campfire was my favourite part, we sang songs, laughed a lot, and just enjoyed being together.'
Grosvenor Hall was more than just a trip, it was a week of learning, laughter and lasting connections.
