It was great to see the LV out in great numbers for the start of the DofE practice expedition on a sunny Sunday morning. The first day of walking was really pleasant with a soft breeze and prevailing sun, and all teams making good progress.
Today we held the first lunchtime concert of the Summer Term, with musicians from LIV to LV performing a variety of pieces ranging from musical theatre to classical music.
Over the Easter break, SMC students were in action in regional and international competition, including Home Internationals and in the England Regional Academy.
It has been a time of celebration for our UVI who applied for higher education courses overseas – instead of or alongside their UK applications. We are delighted to share that they have received a huge number of offers from high calibre, varied and ambitious institutions in the US, Canada, Australia and beyond.
We were delighted this week to learn that Theodora (LV), Sylvie (LV) and Emma (UV) were winners in the Daunt Books Short Story Competition! Impressively, St Mary's Calne students achieved three of the 15 winning stories to be published in the Daunt Books Short Story Anthology 2024!
On Tuesday, Costanza (UVI) presented a Chapel about 'WeCare Projects', an inspiring Italian charity she will be volunteering with in Argentina over this coming summer, building homes and communal spaces alongside the local community.
As a fun finale to close the 150th Anniversary celebrations, today we have launched the ‘150th Bucket List’ - a diverse range of challenging and enjoyable tasks for each student to complete during their time at St Mary’s Calne.
On the 15th of March, we had an amazing maths trip to St Swithun’s for a Maths Team Challenge. Stephenie L (UV), Jessica J (LV), Morolayo A (UIV) and Selina Z (MIV) left school in a minibus on Friday morning, accompanied by Mr Griffin.
During the Easter holidays, 20 girls ventured to Palma to take part in the pre-season tennis training camp at Vilas Tennis Academy in Palma, Mallorca.
