On Monday 9 June, St Mary’s hosted an action-packed Primary School Lacrosse Festival, welcoming pupils from seven local schools, including St Margaret’s. With over 100 children taking part, the day provided a fantastic opportunity for participants to learn a new sport and enjoy playing together.
LIV (Year 7) and MIV (Year 8) pupils had a fantastic afternoon of fun and challenge on the water on Friday 6 June, when they visited RoX at Lake 12 of the Cotswold Water park as part of their 'Challenge and Adventure' programme.
With the lights on, the glitter ball polished, and sparkly top hats carefully in place, this year’s Strictly Calne Dancing took centre stage on Friday 6 June in the Delscey Burns Theatre at St Mary’s.
There is something deeply rewarding about witnessing our girls rise to a challenge with determination, grace, and a good dose of cheer. That spirit was on full display during our recent Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award assessed expedition - a two-day journey that tested both skill and character.
As the UK celebrates Volunteers’ Week (2nd – 8th June), we’re shining a spotlight on our incredible students who give their time and talents to support our local community – and we could not be more proud of their efforts and enthusiasm in this area.
Our LVI Chemistry students had the exciting opportunity to visit the Chemistry Department at the University of Bath, accompanied by Ms Skelhorn and Mrs Wilson. The trip was designed to deepen students’ understanding of the analytical techniques used to identify organic molecules - skills that will be essential for their A Level studies next year.
On Monday evening, we said a warm goodbye to Grace, Larkin and Taylor from St Hilda’s School on the Gold Coast of Australia, after a vibrant and memorable three-week exchange filled with new friendships, cultural experiences, and unforgettable adventures.
On Wednesday 21 May, St Mary’s and St Margaret’s enjoyed their annual Cricket Festival with 100 students from years 5 to 8 enjoying cricket across both school sites and matches at Avebury Cricket Club.
We were privileged to welcome renowned pianist and composer Pamela Chilvers to St Mary’s Calne for a Piano Masterclass, hosted by Head of Keyboard Studies Mr Mark Sandon-Williams, giving some of our aspiring pianists a unique chance to refine their technique and perform for a respected musician.
Our first-ever Grow Club Plant Sale on Friday 23 May was a huge success. Grow Club members worked hard over the preceding weeks and months - sowing seeds, watering them, and carefully tending to each plant before potting them on, ready for sale.
