Over successive Thursdays in May, GCSE and A Level Drama students presented their own original plays created and developed over a period of months based on stimuli set by the Drama Department.
Last Sunday, on the most beautiful sunny afternoon, we hosted over 200 guests in the stunning Lime Kiln Garden for our biennial Spring Garden Party. It was a delight to see pupils joined by their grandparents and other family members and friends, enjoying music, school tours, afternoon tea and joyful chat.
On Friday 17th May, St Mary’s hosted its first ever 'Strictly Calne Dancing' event. The St Mary's Big Band, featuring musicians from MIV to UVI, provided the live music; entertaining the crowd with jazz, latin, and swing standards while each Company presented two carefully choreographed dances in the two competitive categories - Quartet and 'Own Choice' Group Dance.
LIV and MIV took a trip to Wycombe Abbey on Saturday 18th May for a 'Super Saturday' fixture, playing both cricket and tennis.
On Saturday evening, a small group of LVI (Year 12) headed to Reading to meet Eton College for a meal and Escape Room challenge.
On two successive Friday afternoons, the LIV and MIV pupils have isited Lake 32 of the Cotswold Water Park as part of their Challenge and Adventure (CAA) programme.
Last Friday, the LIV (Year 7) and MIV (Year 8) visited Lake 32 at the Cotswold Water Park for their first 'Challenge and Adventure' (CAA) session of the year!
On Sunday, the MIV (Year 8) girls headed into Bristol to go to the Wake the Tiger ‘Amazement Park’. They didn’t know what to expect but were all blown away by the experience!
On Saturday, the LVI received a second round of practical life skills from Tactical Tuition. Half of the year group had an indepth First Aid class, while the second group received an energetic Self Defence class.
On Thursday 16th May, Mrs Handy launched the first-ever St Mary’s Girlguiding Guide and Ranger unit in Chapel - the 4th Calne (St Mary’s Calne) Guides and Rangers.
