A memorable experience for the LV as they enjoyed performances, up lose and live, by Hollywood stars at the highly acclaimed production of ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ in London’s West End.
On Tuesday evening, we had the wonderful opportunity to have supper with Amy Peake, founder of the charity, Loving Humanity. She told us a little about herself, her charity, and the incredible work she does. We learnt of her time in India, and how this was her ‘calling’ to begin Loving Humanity.
As part of this year's Academic Enrichment Week, LIV students had the incredible opportunity to explore the vast collection of art and history at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford. This visit offered an enriching blend of workshops, guided tours, and an immersive look at some of the most celebrated artworks, ranging from the iconic paintings of Édouard Manet to the works of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and beyond.
We are thrilled to be celebrating a triple success in creative writing this week, with Beana (LV) shortlisted for the Young Walter Scott Prize for Historical Fiction, Norah (UVI) winning the Stepping into Stories Festival Fiction Competition, and also being shortlisted for the Love Letters to London Prize.
Charity Week, a much-loved and eagerly anticipated annual week of activities, has arrived and has already provided lots of opportunities for fun with a purpose.
Visiting author, Rachel Delahaye, inspired the LIV and MIV students during Academic Enrichment Week by discussing futuristic storytelling and the role of technology in shaping society, using examples from iconic dystopian literature. In a workshop, she guided the girls through imagining the future in stages, helping them build engaging storylines and think critically about the impact of new technologies.
This year's Dance Showcase featured more than 140 performers to a jam-packed audience. Hosted by Alice and Lauren (LV), the event featured a series of high-energy dances inspired by the theme of 'Feuds,' with memorable performances all of the Fourth Form, the K-Pop Dance Club and young students from Heddington Primary School, led by our LV Dance Leaders.
On Thursday 13 February, the LVI attended the 2025 Inspiring Futures Conference, where they heard from a diverse panel of speakers, including Calne Alumnae, about their professional journeys in fields like aerospace, law, nursing, and digital marketing. The students gained valuable insights into various careers, learned the importance of seizing opportunities, and reflected on their own future paths while enjoying personal stories from the speakers.
We are proud to announce that several of our talented students have had their artwork selected for the renowned Young Art Exhibition, a prestigious showcase of creativity from the brightest young artists across the country.
During the February Half Term, a group of 18 enthusiastic girls, accompanied by Miss Arthur, Miss Turley, and Mrs. Baldwin, embarked on an unforgettable ski trip to Sestriere, Italy. This week-long adventure provided an excellent opportunity for students to develop their skiing skills, experience a new culture, and create lasting memories.
