On Wednesday 29 January, the St Mary’s Debate Team travelled to Queen Elizabeth Hospital School in Salisbury to take part in the second round of the English Speaking Union (ESU) Mace Debate Tournament.
This January, our talented Dance Leaders have been making waves at Heddington Primary School, bringing creativity and energy to Year 3 & 4 students. Our LV Dance Leaders have been attending the school to lead engaging dance sessions, demonstrating the true spirit of mentorship and community involvement.
The annual Sir Bryn Terfel Song Prize and Sir Tim Rice Musical Theatre Prize filled the Chapel with outstanding singing on Tuesday 28 January. The eminent adjudicator was Jean Rigby, an international mezzo-soprano and star of the Royal Opera House, ENO, and Glyndebourne.
Seven girls, along with Mrs. Baldwin and Miss Turley, travelled to Flaine for the British Schoolgirls' Ski Races, where they faced challenging weather and fierce competition, all while showing exceptional team spirit and celebrating medal success!

GCSE and A Level Art students travelled to Lisbon for an art-filled adventure, exploring the city’s rich history, stunning architecture, and vibrant culture while developing our sketching skills. Highlights included visiting St George’s Castle, the Banksy Museum, Jerónimos Monastery, and the Lisbon Oceanarium, all of which inspired our creativity and left us with happy, lasting memories.
The UVI Chemists returned to the University of Bath to work in the organic chemistry laboratories, where they separated a sample of ‘Bathenone’ into aspirin and either acetanilide or phenacetin, using techniques like filtration and rotary evaporation.
Last weekend, St Mary's Calne hosted a dynamic Super Saturday of sport, featuring 19 lacrosse teams and exciting netball fixtures. The day showcased impressive performances across various age groups, including thrilling victories and competitive matches, highlighting the strong teamwork and skill of all participants.

Interested Sixth Formers attended a Cyber Security Event at UWE Bristol, featuring career lectures from leading organizations, such as BAE Systems, Nationwide and Microsoft, highlighting diverse opportunities and non-traditional career paths in cyber security.
